Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to Milford High School!  We are excited to re-open the school and are committed to providing a high quality education for our students in the safest manner we can given the current situation we are facing with the worldwide pandemic.  We feel it is important for our students to be able to attend school in person and to be able to have the benefit of direct access to their teachers. Multiple precautions have been implemented to limit the spread of illness at school including increased sanitation efforts, reducing the amount of time students are in school, and implementation of all other guidelines and mandates from the department of health and the governor's office. The governor has mandated that all individuals attending school, or school events are required to wear a face covering. We are providing students with cloth masks.  We also have face shields available for those students who do not feel comfortable wearing a mask.  Students who have a medically verified reason for not wearing a mask can get a doctors note that can exempt them from wearing a mask.

In response to the pandemic there are a few things that you need to be aware of:

Learning Options:

We encourage parents and students to discuss these options and select the option that best fits their needs. Students who choose to attend any course online need to schedule an appointment with the administration and their parents to make arrangements.

  • In School: Students will be allowed to attend classes in person at the school with the full support of our educational staff.
  • On-Line: Students will have access to the same instructional materials as their peers who are attending in person classes, and teachers will support their learning.Students who choose this option will be held to the same standards as students who attend in person.
  • Hybrid: Students can also choose to take some classes in person, and other classes online.

Schedule:

  • In an effort to reduce the amount of time students are exposed to each other we have elected to end the school day at 2:00. We will start at 7:50 just like we have for several years.

Teacher Office Hours:

  • Teachers will have office hours daily from 2:00 - 3:30 and will be available by appointment. Please contact teachers via email, or call the office to schedule an appointment to meet with a teacher.

Illness/Symptom Checking:

If a student feels sick, or has a fever (temperature above 100.4), cough, sore throat, congestion, shortness of breath, sneezing, etc. keep the student home.  The student will be able to access the lessons for the day online. If you need thermometers, a checklist of symptoms to monitor, or other materials to check for symptoms of illness contact the school and we will provide the materials for you.  If a student has symptoms at school they will be isolated until a parent can come get them.

Students whose vaccinations are not up to date prior to the first day of school will be sent home until all immunizations are completed.
